Job summary

WestCare Arizona I Inc. is seeking a qualified professional to provide mental health and substance abuse services in Bullhead City, AZ.

Qualifications

  • Must possess Arizona Level 1 Fingerprint clearance card.
  • Able to pass Arizona Central Registry background check.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Health and/or substance use counseling or equivalent experience.
  • Associates with behavioral health major and/or working toward a degree with qualifying experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct assessments and evaluations to determine level of service.
  • Administer approved assessment instruments for treatment.
  • Prepare induction packets and verify program eligibility.
  • Coordinate entry of clients into the program and communicate with agencies.
  • Deliver presentations and seminars on WestCare's services.
  • Possibly conduct assessments in jails or institutions.
  • Respond to inquiries about program information.
  • Coordinate transportation of new clients from jail facilities.
  • Prepare correspondence to referral sources about assessments.
  • Uphold WestCare Foundation mission and ethics; perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Person in this position will work in collaboration with a mental health/substance abuse counselor to provide mental health & substance abuse services to patients/clients of WestCare who have been diagnosed with a substance abuse disorder, a mental illness or both.


Essential Job Functions


  • Provide direct assessments and evaluations of clients in order to determine appropriate level of service required;

  • Administer agency approved assessment instruments to individuals seeking treatment services;

  • Complete induction packets and obtain all necessary documentation and verification of program eligibility;

  • Work with seniors

  • Coordinate the entry of clients into the program with all agency program components;

  • Give presentations, speeches and seminars regarding WestCare's services as assigned;

  • May be required to conduct assessments in jails and institutions;

  • Responsible for answering verbal and written inquiries from prospective clients requesting program information;

  • Coordinate transportation of new clients from various jail facilities to the agency;

  • Preparation of necessary correspondence to referral sources regarding assessment outcome;

  • Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision and goals of WestCare Foundation; and

  • Perform any other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


  • Certifications/Licenses:


    • Possess or able to obtain Arizona Level 1 Fingerprint clearance card

    • Able to pass Arizona Central Registry background check


  • Education:


    • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Health and/or substance use counseling; or an Associates degree with a behavioral health major and/or substance use counseling or working towards a degree with comparable years of qualifying experience

    • High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of college-level education is required.


  • Experience and Competencies:


    • Two (2) years of experience in providing direct counseling services to persons with alcohol and/or drug problems is preferred;

    • Intake and assessment experience is preferred;

    • Bilingual is preferred;

    • Knowledge of the criminal justice system;

    • Must have knowledge of the ASAM Assessment system, 1 year experience preferred;

    • Excellent communication skills;

    • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion;

    • Ability to work well in a team environment;

    • Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially to standards governing confidentiality;

    • Professional appearance and demeanor;

    • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCare’s vehicle insurance is required;

    • CPR Certification, First Aid Certification and an annual Tuberculosis test.
