Job summary

The PET Dairy plant, part of Dairy Farmers of America, is hiring a fast-paced case dock laborer to perform picking, pulling, ordering, palletizing, loading, unloading and staging duties across all stations. The role requires operating equipment in a refrigerated dock environment and adhering to GMP and safety standards.

Shifts include 1st and 2nd with early start times; compensation is $19.50 per hour and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must pass all pre-employment screenings including drug, background and criminal checks.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, pull, push, reach and bend virtually the entire shift.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and move cases up to 6-8 high.
  • Must be able to work in a wet environment and temperatures 35–40°F.
  • Willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends and holidays.
  • May be exposed to cleaning chemicals.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and clean all equipment in assigned area.
  • Slide case stacks from truck using milk hook or pallet jack as appropriate.
  • Ensure conveyor tracks are filled with empty cases to prevent production delays.
  • Confirm empty case area is full of cases at end of shift to help next shift with production run.
  • Correctly prioritize which truck to empty first based on input from supervisors, yard drivers, or others.
  • Continuously scan the area and straighten up to reduce trip and slip hazards.
  • Spot broken or otherwise unusable cases and remove them to the designated area.
  • Handle returned and truck inventory product as instructed.
  • Ensure trailers are unloaded and washed in a timely and efficient manner while keeping dock doors closed at all times when not in use.
  • Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible, and accurate format and completed with required information.
  • Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOP’s.
  • Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
  • Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately.
  • Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues.
  • Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.

Ou r PET Dairy plant has an imme diate job opening for a fast paced and motivated case dock laborer to perform any combination of picking, pulling, and building orders, palletizing products, loading, unloading, and staging materials for outgoing delivery, and working any station or line that is assigned. Additionally, our case operators are responsible for safely operating various material and handling equipment and machinery within a warehouse, cooler, freezer or dock environment.

PAY RATE:

$19.50 per hour

SCHEDULE:

1st Shift / Mon- Sat / 6am - Finish / Rotating Days Off. 2nd Shift / Mon- Sat / 3pm - Finish / Rotating Days Off

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimal
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings including drug, background and criminal checks
  • Must be able to stand, walk, pull, push, reach and bend virtually the entire shift
  • Must be ableto lift up to 50 pounds and assist others when lifting is necessary and manually stack and move cases up to 6-8 cases high
  • Must be able to work in a wet environment and work in an environment where temperature is maintained at 35–40 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends and holidays
  • May occasionally be exposed to cleaning chemicals
