Job description

MRA Law Group, a reputable immigration law firm, is seeking a Case Coordinator (Paralegal) - Tier 2 to join our team. This junior-level position is ideal for individuals with 2 to 4 years of experience as a legal assistant or in a related position. The ideal candidate should have proficiency in handling a variety of immigration cases, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work independently on moderately complex tasks with minimal supervision.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Case Types

Family-Based Immigration (Complex Cases):

- Family-Based Petitions for complex situations, including one-step applications
- Adjustment of Status for complex situations, including potential issues like minor criminal records, incomplete documentation, or complex family histories
- Consular Processing
- Moderately complex Requests for Evidence (RFE) and Notices of Intent to Deny (NOID)
- Preparing responses to moderately complex RFEs and NOIDs, addressing basic points of contention, gathering additional evidence, and making clear legal arguments
- Initial appeals, including preparation for the Administrative Appeals Office (AAO) or the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) for less complex cases

Humanitarian Cases (Moderate Complexity):

- VAWA Self-Petitions
- I-751 petitions with a waiver
- U Visas for crime victims
- Asylum Applications

Removal Defense:

- Basic preparation for deportation defense cases
- PD Requests
- Motions

Additional Responsibilities:

- Supervision and Training: Occasionally assist in training entry-level case coordinators or interns.
- Legal Research and Writing: Conduct legal research and draft basic legal memoranda under attorney supervision.
- Client Interaction: Provide support and guidance to clients, answer basic questions, and maintain communication throughout the case process.
- Administrative Duties: Manage case files, maintain records, schedule appointments, and ensure all filings are accurate and timely.

QUALIFICATIONS

- 2 to 4 years of experience as a legal assistant or in a related position.
- Proficiency in handling a variety of immigration cases.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently on moderately complex tasks with minimal supervision.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
