Position Summary

Under general supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, this position provides legal and administrative support to the firm’s attorneys and clients. The role requires familiarity with and adherence to firm policies and confidentiality protocols. Regular interaction with attorneys (both internal and external), clients, support staff, and vendors is expected, with a focus on maintaining positive and professional relationships. This role is part of the Real Estate/Renewable Energy Projects team. In office requirements may change or increase. Responsibilities may evolve over time and are not limited to the functions listed below

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Draft closing and conveyancing documents.
  • Review and analyze title reports, surveys, zoning certificates, and other due diligence materials related to real estate acquisitions and project development.
  • Review purchase agreements, leases, easements, and similar documents; prepare abstracts and summaries.
  • Assist in organizing and managing closings, including preparation of closing binders.
  • Review purchase contracts and loan documents; prepare and maintain closing checklists.
  • Handle all post-closing follow-up and documentation.
  • Support multi-state loan and acquisition transactions.
  • Access and search land records as needed.
  • Coordinate the recordation of real estate documents such as deeds, deeds of trust, amendments, easements, lot line adjustments, and covenants.
  • Assist with preparation and review of organizational documents.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, writing, and proofreading skills.
  • Work effectively with attorneys, staff, and clients.
  • Manage deadlines and multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Show initiative, reliability, and a self-starting approach to work.

Requirements

Education: . Undergraduate degree and/or paralegal certificate required.

Experience: Entry level Case Assistant or Paralegal with at least 1-3 years of real estate legal experience preferred.

Skills: Excellent communication skills as well as the ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels. Ability to organize and prioritize issues and workload. The ability to work on projects independently or with little supervision.

Working Conditions: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of three full days per week in the office. Specific scheduling details will be discussed with your direct supervisor. Occasional extended hours may be needed to meet business needs.

Pay Ranges: This represents the presently-anticipated low and high end of Reed Smith’s pay range for this position. Actual pay may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience.
