Job summary

Sorren, Inc. in California is seeking a skilled accounting professional to perform and supervise complex accounting tasks across multiple entities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and bill payments. CPA-eligible candidates are preferred, with a strong GAAP foundation and multi-entity experience.

This full-time role requires 3-5 years of general accounting, excellent communication, and the ability to coach junior staff while meeting deadlines and year-end objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is required.
  • CPA license or eligibility preferred.
  • Strong GAAP knowledge and financial reporting experience.

  • Experience with multi-entity accounting and month-end close.

Responsibilities

  • Perform, supervise, and review complex accounting tasks, including reconciliations, journal entries, coding expenses, bill payments, and accounts receivable for multiple entities.
  • Oversee annual accounting procedures to prepare records for tax preparation, 1099s, and tangible personal property returns.
  • Prepare and review compilations on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis based on client requirements.
  • Identify material misstatements and evaluate inconsistencies in financial reports.
  • Prepare client cash flow forecasts and monitor engagement performance against budgets.
  • Analyze organizational structures and financial impacts to ensure accurate accounting.
  • Train and review work for associates, providing constructive feedback to foster growth.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients to address project statuses and inquiries.
  • Contribute to team efforts through collaboration, volunteering support, and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in professional development through training sessions and independent learning.
  • Manage multiple engagements and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Perform other duties and display flexibility to take on a variety of responsibilities assigned by firm leadership.
  • Meet annual billable hour and other targets to fulfill individual performance and overall firm productivity.

Position Summary:

Your Impact (Essential Duties):

Your Background:

  • 3-5 years of experience in general accounting
  • CPA license or eligible (preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • Strong understanding of complex accounting principles, including GAAP and financial reporting frameworks
  • Proficiency in learning and using accounting software and related tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaboration and client interactions
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Accurate mathematical and financial analysis skills
  • Ability to work independently while also coaching newer team members and seeking support from leadership as needed
  • Analytical thinking to identify and address inconsistencies in financial reporting
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills where solutions are proactively proposed to relevant parties
  • Proactive approach to delivering a high-quality customer experience in a multi-client environment
  • Full-time commitment and flexibility to work beyond regular hours to meet team deadlines

California compensation range for this role is $65,000-$100,000

Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location. Discretionary incentive compensation is based on firm, group, and individual performance.
