Job summary

Sorren in California seeks a seasoned Assurance Manager to lead and supervise large audit engagements, including reviews and compilations, with a focus on GAAP and GAAS compliance. You will mentor and delegate to associates, review workpapers, and ensure timely delivery within budgets.

The role requires 3–5 years in assurance, a CPA or eligible, and a Bachelor's in accounting. Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills are essential to guide client relations and maintain quality

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of assurance experience.
  • CPA license or eligible.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and supervise complex assurance audits, reviews, and compilations.
  • Resolve complex accounting issues like consolidations and deferred tax.
  • Apply GAAP/GAAS knowledge to audit procedures.
  • Train and supervise associates and interns to boost efficiency.
  • Review workpapers and provide feedback to ensure accuracy.
  • Customize audit strategies based on risks during planning and execution.
  • Analyze financial statements for errors or omissions.
  • Prepare client communications and perform internal control walkthroughs.
  • Contribute to engagement budgets and monitor variances.
  • Communicate with team and clients on audit issues and status.
  • Participate in training to maintain and expand technical knowledge.
  • Demonstrate time management to meet deadlines.
  • Perform other duties with flexibility as assigned.
  • Meet annual billable hour targets.

Position Summary

Your Impact (Essential Duties):

  • Perform and supervise larger, more complex assurance projects, including audits, reviews, and compilations.
  • Address complex accounting issues such as consolidations, deferred tax calculations, and going concern assessments.
  • Apply thorough knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and other financial reporting frameworks to audit procedures.
  • Train, supervise, and delegate work to associates and interns to foster efficiency and team growth.
  • Review workpapers prepared by associates/interns, provide constructive feedback, and ensure conclusions are appropriate.
  • Customize audit strategies based on identified risks and ensure audit issues are addressed during planning and performance.
  • Analyze financial statements and disclosures for errors or omissions.
  • Prepare client correspondence, perform internal control walkthroughs, and handle client inquiries.
  • Contribute to engagement budgets and monitor performance against budgets.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients to address audit‑related issues and project statuses.
  • Participate in department‑wide training and independent learning to maintain and expand technical knowledge.
  • Demonstrate strong time management skills to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple engagements.
  • Perform other duties and display flexibility to take on a variety of responsibilities assigned by firm leadership.
  • Meet annual billable hour and other targets to fulfill individual performance and overall firm productivity.
Background
  • 3–5 years of experience in assurance‑related work.
  • CPA license or eligible.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
  • Comprehensive understanding of audit standards, procedures, and financial reporting frameworks.
  • Proficiency in audit‑related software and tools.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to supervise and mentor team members.
  • Excellent communication skills for client and team interactions.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple engagements effectively.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.

  • Full‑time commitment and flexibility to work beyond regular hours to meet team deadlines.
Compensation and Benefits

California compensation range for this role is $76,000 - $100,000. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location. Discretionary incentive compensation is based on firm, group, and individual performance.
