Job summary

Sorren is a top 50 national advisory firm seeking an experienced accounting professional to join its California team. You will perform, supervise, and review complex tasks across multiple entities, oversee annual procedures, and prepare compilations per client needs.

Ideal candidates have 3-5 years of general accounting experience, a CPA license or eligibility, a Bachelor's in accounting, and strong GAAP knowledge. Full-time role with competitive California compensation and generous benefits.

  • Proficiency in learning and using accounting software and related tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaboration and client interactions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while coaching newer team members.
  • Analytical thinking to identify and address inconsistencies in financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and proactive approach to client service.
  • Willingness to work beyond regular hours to meet team deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform, supervise, and review complex accounting tasks for multiple entities.
  • Oversee annual accounting procedures for tax preparation, 1099s, and tangible personal property returns.
  • Prepare and review compilations on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis per client requirements.
  • Identify material misstatements and evaluate inconsistencies in financial reports.
  • Prepare client cash flow forecasts and monitor engagement performance against budgets.
  • Analyze organizational structures and financial impacts to ensure accurate accounting.
  • Train and review work for associates, providing constructive feedback to foster growth.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients to address project statuses and inquiries.
  • Contribute to team efforts through collaboration, volunteering support, and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in professional development through training sessions and independent learning.
  • Manage multiple engagements and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Perform other duties and display flexibility to take on a variety of responsibilities assigned by firm leadership.
  • Meet annual billable hour and other targets to fulfill individual performance and overall firm productivity.

Position Summary

Your Background
  • 3-5 years of experience in general accounting
  • CPA license or eligible (preferred)

  • Full-time commitment and flexibility to work beyond regular hours to meet team deadlines

California compensation range for this role is $65,000-$100,000 Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location. Discretionary incentive compensation is based on firm, group, and individual performance.
