Job summary

Sorren is seeking a diligent Auditor/Staff Accountant to perform assurance procedures including audits, reviews, and compilations. You will reconcile workpapers, apply GAAP/GAAS concepts, and assist in drafting financial statements.

The role requires CPA eligibility or license, a accounting degree, and strong communication skills. You will manage multiple engagements, communicate progress, and learn client industries, while supporting firm standards and deadlines.

Qualifications

  • CPA license or eligible.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • Understanding of audit standards and ability to adapt to changes.
  • Proficiency in learning and utilizing audit-related software and tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Accurate mathematical and accounting skills.
  • Ability to follow firm procedures and deliver high-quality work.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned assurance procedures, including audits, reviews, compilations, and agreed-upon procedures.
  • Reconcile workpapers to trial balance accounts and ensure neat, complete, and organized documentation.
  • Understand and apply GAAP, GAAS, and other financial reporting frameworks.
  • Determine scope of testing, select samples, and demonstrate audit skepticism.
  • Prepare and review draft financial statements and identify potential issues for documentation and communication.
  • Obtain an understanding of control deficiencies and assist in documenting items for management communication.
  • Manage workloads across multiple engagements and prioritize tasks with supervision.
  • Communicate project statuses and participate in meetings.
  • Develop understanding of client industries and issues impacting audit work.
  • Contribute to team by training and self-learning.
  • Meet annual billable hour and other targets.

Position Summary

Your Impact (Essential Duties)

  • Perform assigned assurance procedures, including audits, reviews, compilations, and agreed-upon procedures
  • Reconcile workpapers to trial balance accounts and ensure neat, complete, and organized documentation
  • Understand and apply basic concepts of GAAP, GAAS, and other financial reporting frameworks
  • Determine scope of testing, select samples, and demonstrate audit skepticism
  • Prepare and review draft financial statements and identify potential issues for documentation and communication
  • Obtain an understanding of control deficiencies and assist in documenting items for management communication
  • Manage individual workloads across multiple engagements and prioritize tasks with supervisor guidance
  • Communicate effectively with team members on project statuses and participate actively in meetings
  • Develop a basic understanding of client industries and issues that may impact audit work
  • Contribute to team efforts by volunteering to assist and participating in training and independent learning
  • Demonstrate strong time management skills to meet deadlines and engagement priorities
  • Perform other duties and display flexibility to take on a variety of responsibilities assigned by firm leadership
  • Meet annual billable hour and other targets to fulfill individual performance and overall firm productivity
Your Background
  • CPA license or eligible
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
