Job summary

IKEA Gruppe in Merriam, KS seeks a Retail Carts Co-worker to enhance the shopping experience. You will load/unload carts, maintain loading zones, and support multiple customer service areas. This role includes evening and weekend shifts and limited benefits for a permanent part-time position.

Qualifications

  • JOB TYPE: Permanent – Part‑Time (limited benefits)
  • HOURS: 12–19 hrs/week (PT) — nights & weekends as shift
  • Outdoor work: 50% of the time; lifting up to 50 lbs

Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly and efficient car loading and/or unloading services while keeping the loading zone clean.
  • Ensure all shopping tools (carts, pencils, yellow bags, maps, twine) are stocked and maintained during business hours.
  • Ensure tools are filled at closing.
  • Monitor condition of physical and digital tools, report IT issues, remove unsafe stands or tools.
  • Address customer needs, resolve issues, escalate to a manager when needed.
  • Support in other areas: FSHO, Exchanges & Returns, Click & Collect.
  • Provide a simple and efficient handout experience during FSHO.
  • Ensure proper staging during returns and accurate order handoff for Click & Collect.
  • Contribute to an IKEA culture that embraces diversity.

What you'll be doing day to day

As a Retail Carts Co-worker ensuring an enjoyable shopping experience for our customers, you will:

  • Provide friendly and efficient car loading and/or unloading services while keeping the loading zone clean by clearing away straps, excess carts, and cardboard.
  • Ensure that all physical shopping tools, including carts, pencils, yellow bags, maps, and twine, are adequately stocked and maintained throughout the store during business hours.
  • Ensure physical shopping tools are filled at closing.
  • Monitor the condition of physical and digital shopping tools, report any IT issues, and remove any physical stands or tools that are unsafe.
  • Address customer needs, resolve issues independently, escalation matters to a manager when needed.
  • Support in other customer service areas such as Full Serve Hand Out (FSHO), Exchanges & Returns, Click & Collect as needed.
  • When supporting in Full Serve Hand Out (FSHO), provide customers with a simple and efficient handout experience.
  • When supporting in Returns, ensure products and equipment are properly staged.
  • When supporting Click & Collect, create a positive customer experience by ensuring accurate order handoff.

The pay rate for this role is $17.50

  • Physical Demands: Lifting up to 50lbs and walking frequently.
  • Working Conditions: Outdoor 50% of the time.

The starting rate/ salary for this position is 17.5 USD
