Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Ministry Coordinator leads and executes the Elementary portion (1st Grade – 5th grade) of Kids Ministry, focusing on the Sunday morning small group experience, and provides oversight of the paid Childcare staff for groups requiring childcare outside of Sunday mornings. This position involves recruiting, training, and shepherding both Sunday volunteers and part-time childcare staff.
CHILDCARE DUTIES
- Plan and prepare for events requiring Childcare. Assemble the Childcare team, interviewing and onboarding new staff as needed. Assign and communicate schedules and classroom rosters.
- Work with the Adult Ministry Team and Kids Pastor to set a seasonal calendar for childcare.
- Be Emergency Prepared: CPR/AED certified, understand all emergency procedures and equipment.
- Set up all Childcare registrations, groups, and Ministry Platform check-in. Reserve all rooms needed for Childcare through Espace.
- Address any childcare questions or concerns from parents, childcare workers, and staff.
ELEMENTARY DUTIES
- Partner with the Kids Pastor, Kids Operations Coordinator, and Programming Coordinator to communicate the vision for small groups and ensure that the Bent Tree vision, mission, and culture are maintained. Provide insight into the overall Elementary Ministry success.
- Partner with the Kids Pastor to help identify, recruit, equip, and lead Small Group Leaders and Coaches.
- Manage Elementary Ministry on Sunday mornings and ensure proper volunteer staffing each week.
- Assimilate all new leaders and coordinate their onboarding process.
- Oversee weekly communication with Servant Leader team.
- Review the curriculum and provide insight for developmental appropriateness and our small group leaders’ ability to implement.
- Work with Special Needs Coordinator to support our Special Needs Buddies who serve in mainstream classrooms.
- Develop and maintain a list of substitute leaders called MVPs.
- Support all Family Ministry Events
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Excellent interpersonal skills and able to connect with kids, students, and adults.
- Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse group of people in a variety of situations, utilizing proper grammar in written communications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn and utilize internal database and project management systems
- Possess the ability to manage teams, with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to work a few evenings each week and occasional special events as required.
- Experience in coordinating, scheduling and equipping people and tasks.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- College degree preferred
- Background in Kids Ministry or Education preferred
