Job summary

PENN Power Group is seeking a skilled Carrier Refrigeration Technician to install, maintain, and repair refrigeration units for commercial trucks, trailers, and industrial equipment. You will handle heavy‑duty systems, ensuring reliability and safety in temperature‑controlled operations.

Cross training in Detroit Diesel, Allison Transmission, and Fleet repair is available. You will diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, document repairs, and uphold safety standards in varied

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in heavy‑duty refrigeration repair or maintenance, preferably with trucks, trailers, or industrial units.
  • In‑depth knowledge of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and mechanical components.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification (required for handling refrigerants).
  • Ability to read blueprints, manuals, and schematics.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; HVAC certifications preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair refrigeration units and related systems on heavy‑duty tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units.
  • Install, maintain, and repair heavy‑duty refrigeration units on trucks, trailers, and industrial equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot refrigeration system issues (electrical, mechanical, refrigeration cycles).
  • Perform preventive maintenance and system inspections for proper functioning.
  • Recharge refrigerants and replace/repair parts (compressors, condensers, evaporators).
  • Run pre‑start checks and communicate repairs needed.
  • Maintain accurate service records and comply with safety standards.
  • Work indoors and outdoors across varying temperatures and conditions.
  • Rebuild components on equipment.
  • Complete Repair Orders with proper labor and parts charges.

We're looking for a talented Carrier Refrigeration Technician. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration units for commercial trucks, trailers, and large equipment. You will work on a variety of heavy‑duty refrigeration systems, ensuring their performance and reliability in keeping temperature‑sensitive goods safe.

*Cross training for Detroit Diesel, Allison Transmission, and Fleet repair available*

What You Will Do
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair refrigeration units, and all systems/components related to heavy‑duty tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units
  • Install, maintain, and repair heavy‑duty refrigeration units on trucks, trailers, and industrial equipment
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot refrigeration system issues, including electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration cycles
  • Perform preventative maintenance and system inspections to ensure proper functioning
  • Recharge refrigerant systems and replace or repair parts, including compressors, condensers, and evaporators
  • Perform pre‑start checks on equipment and communicate repairs necessary
  • Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, dealing with various temperatures and conditions

  • Complete all Repair Orders in a timely manner ensuring all labor and parts are charged to the appropriate unit
What You Bring
  • 3+ years of experience in heavy‑duty refrigeration repair or maintenance (preferably with commercial trucks, trailers, or industrial units)
  • In‑depth knowledge of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and mechanical components
  • EPA Section 608 Certification (required for handling refrigerants)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in refrigeration or HVAC preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
  • Valid driver's license
Nice to Have
  • CDL (Commercial Driver’s License)
  • ASE Certifications
  • HVAC or refrigeration certifications
