Job summary

TA Services is seeking a Carrier Development Representative in Indianapolis. You will work with the Carrier Development Manager and operations to grow the carrier network, analyze market trends, and convert spot-market carriers into long-term contractual partners.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, 2+ years in TL capacity development, and proficiency with TMS systems and MS Office products. Travel may be required; strong relationship skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 2+ years of direct TL capacity development and carrier management experience.
  • Flatbed procurement experience required.
  • Prior experience in a 3PL environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with McLeod and MercuryGate TMS systems preferred.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience with cross-border freight processes preferred.
  • Deep understanding of TA Services’ Managed Transportation services, carrier onboarding, contracts, settlement processes, systems integration, and operational execution.

Position Title: Carrier Development Representative
Days and Shift Information: Monday–Friday, standard business hours (with flexibility as needed to support carrier and customer needs)

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate closely with the Carrier Development Manager and operations team to expand and strengthen TA Services’ carrier network.
  2. Analyze market trends and carrier performance data to identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
  3. Lead initiatives to convert spot-market carriers into long-term contractual partners.
  4. Partner with sales and operations teams to align carrier strategies with customer requirements and service goals.
  5. Build and maintain long‑term partnerships across all modes—including truckload, less-than-truckload, intermodal, expedited, and air freight to support TA Services’ objectives of meaningful relationships, competitive rates, and risk mitigation.
Work Environment

This role operates in a professional office setting with frequent collaboration across departments. Occasional travel to carrier or customer sites may be required. The position requires consistent communication, data analysis, and relationship management with both internal teams and external partners.

Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of direct truckload (TL) capacity development and carrier management experience.
  • Flatbed procurement experience required.
  • Prior experience in a 3PL environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with McLeod and MercuryGate TMS systems preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience with cross‑border freight processes preferred but not required.
  • Deep understanding of TA Services’ Managed Transportation services, carrier onboarding, contracts, settlement processes, systems integration, and operational execution.

  • Annual Salary: $50,000 – $60,000 (based on experience)
  • Paid Time Off: Accrue up to five (5) days PTO in the first year. Two weeks of vacation plus one week of PTO accrue on the first anniversary.
