Job summary

ALCOM is hiring a Carpentry-Assembler in DeLand, FL, for full-time manual labor. Responsibilities include measuring, cutting, and drilling aluminum trailer components; reading blueprints; and assembling interiors, fenders, and framing.

Shift is Monday‑Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with training provided and a strong emphasis on quality and safety. The role requires hands‑on experience with power tools and basic carpentry skills, with on‑the‑job training available.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: hands-on experience working with a variety of power tools.
  • Previous experience working in manufacturing or construction is helpful; however, on‑job training may be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles different facets of a trailer, including interior trim, fenders, wiring, and framing, following the work order.
  • Reads and follows blueprints and work orders, ensuring a quality product that meets customer demands; performs work as assigned by the line supervisor.
  • Obtains raw materials from Material Handlers. Cut material in accordance with specifications on the cut list.
  • Notifies supervisor of any mechanical or material issues, including defects in material, damage to the trailer, and deviations from work order.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area; works to reduce scrap, returns unused materials to the proper area, and disposes of waste properly.

SHIFT SCHEDULE -

Monday - Thursday 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Production Assembler is responsible for performing all tasks involved in the production of aluminum trailers. This includes measuring, cutting, and drilling of aluminum, plywood, and skins. All Production workers are expected to be available to work in all areas of Production. Position offers job training. Training may include shop print reading, light assembly, and aluminum welding. Job requirements are close to residential and commercial carpentry and construction trade type of work and require some mechanical aptitude, good hand-eye coordination, while using diverse types of shop equipment and cordless power hand tools.


FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Assembles different facets of a trailer, including but not limited to interior trim, fenders, rough or finished wiring, and framing, following the work order. Balances productivity with quality and safety.

  • Reads and follows blueprints and work orders, ensuring a quality product that meets customer demands; performs work as assigned by the line supervisor.

  • Obtains raw materials from Material Handlers. Cut material in accordance with specifications on the cut list.

  • Notifies supervisor of any mechanical or material issues, including but not limited to defects in material, damage to the trailer, and deviations from work order.

  • Ensures that the finished product meets quality expectations. Strives for the highest level of quality and understands the need for continuous improvement; supports the concept of "good ... is never good enough."

  • Maintains a clean and safe work area; works to reduce scrap, returns unused materials to the proper area, and disposes of waste properly.

  • Follows all safety procedures, wears protective equipment (PPE), and reports any accidents or near misses to the supervisor immediately.

  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required.


DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Standing – up to 100%

  • Walking – up to 50%

  • Pushing and pulling – up to fifty pounds occasionally

  • Lifting – approximately 55% during the shift

    • 5-25 pounds constantly

    • Fifty pounds frequently

    • 100 pounds occasionally as a team lift



  • Bending – up to 30%

  • Climbing ladders – approximately 10%

  • Crouching – up to 40%

  • Kneeling – Limited

  • Sight with the ability to distinguish cut lines.

  • Above average coordination, including eye-hand, hand-foot, and balance.

  • Normal dexterity of hands and fingers with average repetition
