  • Perform routine carpentry assignments including corrective maintenance on facilities which may include the following activities: build forms for concrete, erect partitions, construct studs walls, install drywall, and repair/rework both flat roof systems and pitched roofs utilizing rafters. Also repair, replace, and install floor coverings, ceilings, paneling, trim and exterior as well as interior systems.
  • Must be able to perform both rough and finish carpentry work as required.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of tools of the trade and be proficient in the safe use of both manual and power tools.
  • Must possess the ability to function alone or as a part of a team.
  • Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to trouble-shoot and repair facilities and construct necessary structures to support site maintenance activities.

Job-Related Qualifications Required

  • High School Graduate/GED
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen, physical and respirator fit test
  • Completed an approved Carpenter apprenticeship program or provide evidence of equivalent training or documented experience
  • Must have experience in related fields that include carpenter support functions related to large scale industrial maintenance.
  • Must be able to work in an outdoor environment
  • Ability to understand environmental, safety, and health requirements applicable to work at a DOE facility
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and complete within allotted time
  • Good communication skills, and be physically able to do considerable walking, lifting, bending, stooping, crouching, carrying, etc.
  • Ability to wear any and all PPE as required and be fitted and wear respirators as necessary to perform job functions
  • Must possess a valid Tennessee driver's license.
