Job summary

Ingalls Shipbuilding, a division of HII, seeks a skilled Scaffold Carpenter in Pascagoula, MS. You will erect, modify, and dismantle temporary elevated platforms to support ship construction and repair, install fall-protection measures, and ensure workspaces meet safety standards.

Experience with scaffolding or industrial carpentry is preferred. Strong commitment to safety, the ability to read scaffold specifications, and comfort working at heights are essential for this 24/7 manufacturing

  • Knowledge of elevated-work safety, fall-protection systems, and OSHA requirements.
  • Ability to read and follow scaffold specifications and installation guidelines.
  • Comfort working at heights and in complex shipyard environments.
  • Strong commitment to safety, craftsmanship, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Erect, modify, and dismantle temporary elevated platforms and staging to support ship construction and repair.
  • Utilize pre-engineered scaffolding systems, including vertical posts, horizontal bars, and engineered connection points.
  • Install temporary wire-rope guardrails and other fall-protection measures.
  • Inspect shipboard work areas, ensuring all open holes and hazardous openings are properly covered and secured.
  • Work in various shipboard environments and support evolving production needs.
  • Must be available to work any shift in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
