Job summary

Birkmeyer General Contractors, LLC is seeking a dependable Carpenter / Laborer with 2–3 years of commercial construction experience to join our team in a hands‑on role. The position involves general labor, site cleanup, and assisting with carpentry tasks, framing, and FF&E installation.

A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required. The right candidate will be detail‑oriented, safety‑conscious, and able to work nights or non‑standard hours as project schedules demand.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of commercial construction experience.
  • FF&E installation experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Experience with carpentry, finish work, or general construction.

Responsibilities

  • Assist superintendents and project teams with daily construction activities.
  • Perform general labor, demolition, material handling, and site cleanup.
  • Maintain a safe, organized job site and follow safety requirements.
  • Assist with framing, blocking, drywall, doors, and other carpentry tasks.
  • Assist with FF&E installation and placement.
  • Move materials and deliver tools and equipment to job sites as needed.
  • Safely operate basic hand and power tools.
  • Assist with punch-list and project closeout activities.
  • Work with subcontractors and team to keep projects moving.

Carpenter / Laborer

Birkmeyer General Contractors is looking for a dependable, hardworking Carpenter / Laborer to join our team. This position is ideal for someone with 2–3 years of commercial construction experience who takes pride in their work, works well with others, and wants to grow their skills and career. This position requires flexibility to work nights as needed, weekends, or non-standard hours when project schedules require it. We are looking for someone who doesn't just want a job—they want to be part of a high-performing team that takes ownership, builds things right, and gets the job done.

Responsibilities
  • Assist superintendents and project teams with daily construction activities
  • Perform general labor, demolition, material handling, and site cleanup
  • Clean and maintain job sites as needed to ensure a safe, organized, and professional work environment
  • Assist with framing, blocking, backing, drywall, doors, hardware, and other carpentry-related work
  • Assist with FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) installation and placement
  • Pick up and deliver materials, tools, equipment, and FF&E to job sites as needed
  • Safely operate basic hand and power tools
  • Load, unload, move, and organize construction materials, furniture, and equipment
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized jobsite
  • Follow project plans, instructions, and company safety requirements
  • Work productively with subcontractors and other members of the project team
  • Assist with punch-list and project closeout activities
  • Identify problems and take action to resolve them
  • Perform other duties as needed to keep the project moving
Qualifications
  • 2–3 years of commercial construction experience required
  • Previous FF&E installation experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
  • Experience with carpentry, finish work, or general construction
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required
  • Ability and willingness to drive company vehicles and deliver materials to job sites
  • Ability to read and follow basic plans and instructionsli>
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Willingness to perform jobsite cleanup and general labor duties when needed
  • Ability to work safely and effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to lift materials, furniture, and equipment and perform physical construction work
  • Willingness to learn and take direction
  • Ability to communicate professionally with coworkers, supervisors, and subcontractors
  • Must be willing to work nights and/or non-standard hours as needed to support project schedules and client requirements
