THE ROLE

Avocado is currently looking for a Carpenter I to be part of the Carpentry Team. This role will report to the Carpentry Manager.

The Carpenter I will perform skilled mill and cabinet work involving construction, finishing, and repairing of the woodwork. As a woodshop carpenter, you will perform various tasks to ensure the wood pieces are prepped and cut to the correct dimensions need to complete the furniture pieces. This candidate will be part of a dynamic fast-growing team responsible for creating our eco-friendly organic mattress wood frames and furniture pieces!

• Note on Location: Here at Avocado Green Brands, we treasure teamwork and working together in person. This role will work on-site at one of our Fullerton locations.
• Note on Pay Transparency: The pay range for this role is $17.00-19.63 Hourly.
  
  

What You’ll Be Working On

• Perform a variety of rough and finished carpentry work
• Perform skilled mill and cabinet work involving construction, finishing, and repairing of the woodwork
• Build forms, operates planers, shapers, jointers, lathes, handsaws, and other woodworking machinery
• Maintain tools and machinery in safe and efficient operating condition
• Inspect and measure workpieces to mark for cuts and to verify the accuracy of cuts, using rulers, squares, or caliper rules.
• Set up, operate, or tend saws or machines that cut or trim wood to specified dimensions, such as circular saws, band saws, multiple-blade sawing machines, scroll saws, ripsaws, or Crozer machines.
  
  

What You Bring

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Woodshop work environment
• Candidate must have working knowledge and experience in general handyman and trim carpentry skills that meet company standards.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination.
• Advanced design skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Experience with hand and power tools.
• Follow company safety culture and Cal OSHA regulations.
• Report incidents, injuries, and hazards to managers.
• Able to identify work hazard situations.
• Following the company safety culture while performing the job duties required for the position.
• Regular and predictable attendance.
• Ability to effectively communicate internally and externally.
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to wear personal protective gear, hearing protection, safety glasses, and respirators or masks most of the day.
• Must be comfortable working in an environment with machinery noise and wood dust.
• Stationary position: Must be able to remain stationary 50% of the time.
• Movements:
• Must be able to move throughout the woodshop to access different machines.
• Must be able to operate woodshop machinery.
• Must be able to frequently move material weighing up to 50 pounds.
