Job description

Summary

The Carpenter will be responsible for utilizing tools to support healthcare and commercial construction projects throughout San Antonio, TX.

Duties

• Champion "The Layton Way" by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
• Ensure that "Constructing with Integrity" is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
• Apply applicable materials to hardened concrete walls for a smoother architectural appearance.
• Identify hazards associated with task assignments and ask questions if clarification is needed.
• Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report unsafe activities to supervisors and safety personnel.
• Work effectively as a team member of the field workforce.
• Follow supervisor instructions and decisions.
• Understand and follow lock out/tag out procedures.
• This position may supervise apprentice finishers.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience working as a carpenter within the commercial and/or healthcare industry.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Understand and convey basic English commands, questions, and instructions regarding commercial construction.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to perform basic carpentry math to calculate measurements, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing with two-digit numbers and multiples of 10 and 100.
• Owns all hand and power tools.
• Commits to and meets all scheduled attendance and production deadlines.
