Job summary

Ames Construction in Pt. Pleasant, WV is seeking a Carpenter Foreman to supervise daily field operations on heavy highway, bridge and civil projects. You will lead carpentry crews, read plans, ensure safety, quality, and schedules.

This hands-on role requires on-site leadership, coordination with project management, and ability to work outdoors in all weather. Travel to multiple job sites may be required; driver’s license is essential.

Qualifications

Strong carpentry knowledge including formwork and layout.
Experience reading and interpreting construction plans and shop drawings.
Proven leadership and ability to manage a crew on active job sites.

Responsibilities

Promote and enforce a safety-first culture on all job sites.
Provide on-site supervision and leadership to assigned crews.
Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and work requirements.
Coordinate with project management to schedule and adjust daily activities to meet production goals.
Oversee excavation activities for assigned crews.
Understand survey information, grades, elevations, and layout procedures.
Complete daily foreman reports and ensure timely submission.
Review and submit crew timecards weekly.
Resolve field issues and unexpected challenges as they arise.
Communicate with superintendents, project engineers, and team members for smooth operations.
