Job summary

Barton Malow is seeking a Carpentry Foreman / Assistant Superintendent to lead carpenters and laborers on active construction sites in Charleston, SC. The candidate will report to the Project Manager and coordinate with onsite teams to deliver projects safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities include directing carpentry crews, managing site logistics, and ensuring quality workmanship while growing toward leadership roles such as Superintendent as development occurs.

Qualifications

• Supervise carpenters and laborers on site.
• Read, interpret and lay out work from drawings.
• Follow oral and written instructions.
• Communicate clearly in writing and orally.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and other contractors.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Autodesk preferred.

Carpentry Foreman / Assistant Superintendent

Barton Malow Builders is currently seeking to fill a position for a working Carpenter foreman. This individual will need to have carpentry/construction experience with the capability of executing and directly managing carpenters and laborers engaged in general construction activities.

This position will report to the Project Manager and will interface with the onsite project teams. Applicants must have reliable transportation, able to be responsible for multiple activities simultaneously, be capable of physically demanding work, be available for flexible/extended hours, and be willing to grow/learn to further develop their capabilities in this role. There is an opportunity for vertical advancement based on development, experience, and performance to become an Assistant Superintendent or superintendent.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinating all Carpenters and Laborers on site.
• Management of site logistics related to assigned scope of work.
• Recognizing site safety concerns and raising those issues to the CM Team
• Manage onsite installation and coordination of Metal Stud Framing, Drywall, Insulation, Rough Carpentry, Acoustical Ceilings, Division 10 Specialties and Doors, Frames & Hardware.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Ability to effectively supervise skilled and unskilled workers.
• Ability to read, interpret and layout work from drawings.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and orally.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and other contractors.
• Skilled in the use of standard tools and equipment for the trades.
• Capable of working from a list of responsibilities, tasks, and on a timeline.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Autodesk is preferred.
