Position Description

PALA Interstate, LLC

Summary

Supervises and directs a group of workers on construction or maintenance jobs, following permit orders.

Reads, studies, and interprets job specifications, plans, and blueprints. Uses basic math skills, including geometry and trigonometry, for calculations. Completes difficult tasks with minimal supervision.

Performs master-level carpentry tasks to repair or improve equipment or buildings, overseeing subordinate carpenters.

Essential Functions

• Obtains work permits, conducts safety assessments, and ensures safe working conditions.
• Confers with supervisors regarding permit issues.
• Assesses equipment needs and procures necessary tools.
• Enforces safety regulations and company policies.
• Assigns duties, supervises work, and ensures task completion.
• Prepares and reviews paperwork such as sign-in sheets, valve lists, MSDS, and timesheets.
• Conducts safety meetings and resolves work-related problems.
• Trains and assists workers.
• Operates company vehicle to transport workers.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises carpenters and helpers, mentoring them and ensuring safety and proper techniques.

Position Requirements

Required Education and Experience

• Minimum of four years’ carpentry experience.
• NCCER Industrial Carpenter Certification preferred.
• Must pass in-house Carpenter Assessment Test.

Preferred Education and Experience

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Trade school training preferred.
