Position Title: Carpenter- Concrete Mason Journeyman I

Compensation

Full-time, Non-Exempt $33.77/hr

Scope & Responsibilities of Carpenter- Concrete Mason Journeyman I : (Not limited to)

  • Qualify as a Journeyman Carpenter/Mason to build, finish or repair all types of masonry work, concrete pads, pump blocks, building and tank foundations, stanchions, concrete floors, pads, sidewalks, curbing, roads, also brick and block, estimating skills and scheduling materials for all jobs.
  • Ability to install a pre-hung door.
  • Familiarity with how to read blueprints, understand scope of job, use proper materials, operate transit and masonry tools, build forms.
  • Assists and learns about heat exchanger work.
  • Able to apply basic experience with laying floor & wall tiles, hanging and finishing drywall (including painting) and conducting minor roof and window repairs.
  • Understand the process of developing material list, the importance of executing projects in accordance with project deadlines.
  • Work effectively alongside contractors to complete tasks or projects.
  • Assist in snow removal.
  • Help with office remodels and other renovations with may include finishing carpentry and minor plumbing work.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of using all shop equipment and hand tools including JLG man lift, forklifts and use of and care for all building trade tools such as electrical, air, gasoline or hand operated or any other equipment necessary to perform job
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate effectively with team members, contractors, vendors and other department personnel.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management.

Education

Education & Experience for Carpenter- Concrete Mason Journeyman I:

  • High school diploma/GED with Associate/Trade School certification preferred.

Other Qualifications Of Carpenter- Concrete Mason Journeyman I

  • Effective people skills with demonstrated ability to work in teams.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft office and maintenance management system.
  • Understanding of basic safe and proper rigging practices.
  • Knowledge of underground utility maps; able to review and understand.
  • Ability to use problem solving/critical thinking skills.
  • Keeping work area clean and orderly.
  • The position requires a valid driver’s license.

Physical & Cognitive Demands of Carpenter- Concrete Mason Journeyman I:

  • COGNITIVE DEMANDS: Meet deadlines, focus attention, work independently, work with a team, perform repetitive tasks, spatial relations, communicating, interpreting, organizing, reading comprehension, critical thinking/troubleshooting.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: seeing, speaking, hearing, smelling, kneeling, stooping, sitting, walk/climb, stand/reach, listen, writing, physical coordination, driving, climbing, twisting/bending, depth perception, assembling parts, keyboarding, Working in extreme heat/cold on elevated platforms with exposure to hazardous materials. Push/pull/lift/carry 50 pounds. Must be capable of climbing, entering vessels, and working in elevated locations or confined spaces. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment and SCBA. Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles, confined spaces and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
