Job summary

California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) seeks a skilled Carpenter to perform maintenance, alteration, and repair of mechanical systems and buildings under the supervision of the Director, Facilities Management. The role includes working from blueprints, constructing wood and metal partitions, and supporting the campus infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a high school diploma with journey-level carpenter skills.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from plans/drawings.
• Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and practices.
• Strong manual dexterity and ability to work independently or in small crews.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair of building systems and carpentry tasks per blueprints and specifications.
• Construct wood/metal cabinets, partitions, and fixtures; install/remove doors and frames.
• Lead and coordinate small crews of skilled trades workers as needed.
