Garney is seeking a skilled Carpenter to build, erect, install and repair structures using wood, steel, plywood, and concrete. The candidate should demonstrate pride in workmanship and be safety-conscious on site in Suffolk, VA.

Typical duties include verifying structural trueness with plumb bobs and lasers, constructing forms, aligning reinforcing steel, and operating a range of hand and power tools. Certifications and overtime willingness are required.

Qualifications

• Firm knowledge of carpenter structures, forms, and tools.
• Must be willing to complete “Fall Protection Certification” and OSHA 10 (provided by Garney).
• Must be willing to work overtime.
• Must have access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Construct, erect, install, and repair structures made from wood, steel, plywood, and concrete.
• Verify trueness of structures using plumb bob, lasers, carpenter level, squares, and transits before concrete placements.
• Construct forms and chutes for concrete placement; assemble and tie reinforcing steel.
• Operate hand tools and power tools such as saws, drills, roto hammers, grinders, etc.
