Intermountain Health in Murray, Utah is seeking an entry-level Maintenance Worker I – General within the Facilities Management department. The role focuses on routine maintenance, supporting hospital systems, and learning under a lead carpenter in an apprentice-style setting.

Job Description

The Maintenance Worker I – General is an entry-level position in the Facilities Management department. The position focuses on general maintenance and the caregiver may be assigned to work in a variety of areas of focus.

Entry Level Carpenter Role

* This will be an entry level carpenter role/apprentice type role learning under the lead carpenter*

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
• Frequent interactions with customers that require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.
• Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
• For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
• Bending, lifting, stooping, crawling, laying, sitting, walking, climbing.
• Use of hand and power tools, proper use of hearing and eye protection.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures in nature, work in noisy or constricted spaces, exposure to odors and smells.
