Job summary

A leading construction company in Cedar Rapids is seeking a Carpenter Apprentice. This full-time internship involves setting up trailers, building structures, performing concrete and rough carpentry tasks, and assisting experienced workers. Ideal candidates will be able to lift considerable weight and work effectively in diverse environments. Compensation is based at $26.95 per hour, and applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling over 50 lbs will be done with assistance.

• Build decks, stairs, roofs, and other temporary structures.
• Hand-set forms and assemble gang forms.
• Assist journeyman and foreman.
• Unload, handle, stockpile, and erect pre-fabricated materials.
• Perform concrete and rough carpentry tasks.
• Effectively work with diverse backgrounds.

Overview

Mortenson is currently seeking a Carpenter Apprentice.

Responsibilities

• Setup trailers


• Build decks, stairs, roofs and other temporary structures between office units, plan tables, install shelves, setup tool trailers and/or conex’s, silt fences and/or straw bales, setup site per erosion control plan


• Hand-set forms and/or assemble the gang forms


• Assist journeyman and foreman with the shooting of grades and elevation


• Unload, handle, stockpile, and erect of all pre-fabricated materials
