Job summary

MEB General Contractors is seeking an experienced Carpenter to build and install concrete forms for structures across the Mid-Atlantic region. The role requires knowledge of stick framed, Symons, and gang form systems, plus the ability to read blueprints and follow supervisor instructions.

Candidates should be able to perform manual labor in various conditions, lift heavy loads, and maintain safety standards on site.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of heavy construction experience.

  • Ability to read blueprints, diagrams and supervisor instructions.
  • Must pass drug test and be legally eligible to work in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare layouts using a rule or measuring tape and framing square.
  • Mark cutting lines on materials with pencil, chalk and gauges.
  • Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
  • Erect scaffolding and ladders for on-site work.
  • Anchor and brace forms using nails, bolts and cables.
  • Layout and install embeds in concrete formwork.
  • Rigging and flagging cranes; follow safety procedures.

Job description

Our team is looking for an experienced Carpenter to build and install concrete forms and systems for various structures in support of our various construction projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region. To succeed, you must ensure that you live by MEB’s core values on the project every day and that quality, health, and safety standards on siteare your top priority.

Core Areas of Responsibility.
  • Prepare layouts using a rule or measuring tape and framing square.
  • Mark cutting and assembly lines on materials using a pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
  • Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
  • Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above the ground level.
  • Erect built-in-place forms or assemble and install prefabricated forms.
  • Anchor and brace forms to fixed objects, using nails, bolts, anchor rods, and steel cables.
  • Layout and install embeds in concrete formwork.
  • Rigging and flagging cranes. (Additional training will be provided if necessary)
  • A minimum 3 years of experience in heavy construction, specifically with knowledge of stick framed, Symons, and gang form systems.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow blueprints, diagrams, and grades and instructions from supervisors, lay out the job, and work efficiently with the materials and tools of your trade.
  • Able to perform manual labor in all types of environments and conditions, including heavy lifting (in excess of 50 lbs.) for an 8 – 10-hour workday.
  • The ability to comprehend and follow specific instructions.
  • Interpersonal competencies that include a drive for results, the need for closure, effective oral communication skills, organization, planning, trust, respect, being dependable and cooperation.
  • Good housekeeping standards and ability to observe safety procedures and report any potentially unsafe conditions to management.
Requirements.
  • 18 years of Age
  • Able to Pass a Drug Test
  • Legally Eligible to Work in the US
  • If assigned to a government project, US citizenship and clear background check may be required.
  • Experience installing underground piping required.
Additional Requirements for Craftworkers.
  • Must have own transportation to and from jobsite every workday (driver's license not required)
  • Must provide own hand tools (excluding power tools)
