Job summary

Coastal Logistics Group is seeking a skilled Carpenter in Savannah, GA to design, fabricate, and implement custom packaging solutions for shipping crates, pallets, and protective packaging for heavy or sensitive equipment. Responsibilities include crate fabrication, pallet construction, and on-site/off-site packaging tasks, with adherence to PPE and safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Ability to fabricate crates, pallets, and skids to spec with attention to quality.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety regulations and wear PPE as required.
  • Design and construct shipping crates and pallets to meet specs.
  • Build heavy-duty skids and packaging for large or delicate items.
  • Set up containers and secure goods during transport with blocking and bracing.
  • Perform off-site crating at customer facilities as needed.
  • Apply marine shrink-wrapping and thermo-welding as required.
  • Use various tools to create innovative packaging solutions.
  • Complete tasks with accuracy and assist team operations as needed.

Job description

Job Summary

The Carpenter is responsible for designing, fabricating, and executing custom packaging solutions to ensure safe and secure delivery of products. Carpenters will work on projects ranging from creating shipping crates and pallets to packaging sensitive or heavy equipment. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strictly adhere to all safety regulations and company protocols.
  • Design and construct custom shipping crates and pallets to meet unique specifications.
  • Build heavy-duty skids and provide custom packaging solutions for large or delicate items.
  • Outfit shipping containers and perform blocking and bracing to secure goods during transport.
  • Conduct off-site crating at customer facilities as required.
  • Perform marine shrink-wrapping and thermo-welding to protect items against environmental conditions.
  • Utilize various tools and techniques to ensure innovative and effective packaging solutions.
  • Complete assigned tasks with precision, quality, and attention to detail.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support team operations.
Qualifications
  • Experience following standard safety practices, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protectors, and gloves.
  • Proficiency in using power and hand tools (e.g., saws, nail guns, drills, hammers, measuring tapes) safely and effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform carpentry tasks, including fabricating high-quality crates, skids, and pallets.
  • Forklift certification is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Proven ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Punctuality and consistent attendance are required.
  • Willingness to work overtime and Saturdays as necessary.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in environments with elevated noise levels and varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work safely with sharp tools and power equipment.
  • May involve work at elevated heights or off-site locations requiring direct customer interaction.
Work Environment
  • Conditions: The role involves working in a warehouse setting with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels, requiring physical stamina.
  • Hours: Must be available to work flexible hours, including potential overtime and weekends.
Work Schedule
  • Days: Monday through Friday
  • Hours: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
