As a Carpenter, you are a skilled trades professional responsible for supporting carpentry, cabinetry, millwork, slot floor box repairs, and facility-related carpentry needs across Grand Casino properties. Your work helps maintain safe, functional, visually appealing, and operationally ready environments throughout guest-facing and back-of-house areas.

This role supports far more than routine repairs. You perform skilled carpentry work tied to slot floor operations, cabinetry modifications, built-in fixtures, trim, casework, access panels, and commercial facility maintenance in a fast-paced gaming and hospitality environment. Your craftsmanship directly impacts guest perception, operational readiness, gaming floor functionality, and overall property appearance.

You help provide reliable internal carpentry support that reduces vendor dependency, improves response time, and maintains the high finished-work standards expected across Grand Casino properties.

What You’ll Do
Commercial Carpentry + Cabinetry Support
  • Build, repair, modify, and maintain cabinetry, millwork, trim, slot floor boxes, and built-in fixtures across casino properties.
  • Complete finish carpentry and commercial repair work in guest-facing and back-of-house areas.
  • Repair cabinets, counters, shelving, doors, frames, wall protection, access panels, and related wood components.
  • Perform cutting, fitting, fastening, patching, sanding, staining, sealing, and finish work as needed.
  • Support carpentry-related modifications tied to slot floor operations, gaming layout changes, and department requests.
  • Maintain high-quality finished work standards that support property appearance and Guest experience.
Slot Floor + Operational Support
  • Support slot floor box repair, installation, maintenance, and modification needs.
  • Assist with slot moves, gaming floor adjustments, access needs, and operational changes.
  • Coordinate work around gaming operations, Guest traffic, and revenue-producing areas to minimize disruption.
  • Respond to daily work orders, facility requests, and urgent carpentry-related operational needs.
  • Help maintain safe, functional, and visually maintained gaming environments.
Facility Repair + Maintenance
  • Complete commercial carpentry repairs across casino, hotel, and support areas.
  • Repair damaged casework, trim, fixtures, wall surfaces, and built-in components caused by operational wear or heavy use.
  • Assist with wall, ceiling, flooring transition, and surface-related repairs as needed.
  • Identify recurring damage or failure points and recommend stronger long-term repair solutions.
  • Support preventative maintenance and property upkeep efforts related to carpentry and finish work.
Tool + Material Management
  • Safely operate carpenter hand tools, power tools, shop tools, lifts, scaffolding, and related equipment.
  • Maintain tools, hardware, materials, and carpentry supplies in safe operating condition.
  • Coordinate inventory, materials, and replacement parts needed for repairs and project work.
  • Interpret sketches, layouts, blueprints, and drawings to determine dimensions, material needs, and work requirements.
Safety + Professional Standards
  • Ensure all work complies with OSHA regulations, safety standards, and organizational expectations.
  • Compliance with current building and fire code standards
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas while operating around Guests, Associates, gaming equipment, and active operations.
  • Follow SDS requirements and manufacturer instructions for materials, chemicals, stains, finishes, and equipment.
  • Interact professionally and respectfully with Guests, Associates, Vendors, and department partners.
  • Support apprentice development and provide guidance when needed.

What You Bring
  • Minimum of 4,000 hours verifiable experience in building trades carpentry, cabinetry, or commercial finish work; OR
  • Two (2) years verifiable occupationally significant combinations of vocational education and apprentice training.
  • Experience with cabinetry, millwork, finish carpentry, commercial repairs, and built-in fixture work preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, layouts, and construction drawings.
  • Experience operating carpenter hand tools, power tools, lifts, scaffolding, and shop equipment safely.
  • Strong troubleshooting, craftsmanship, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain productivity in operational environments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, kneel, crouch, bend, and perform physically demanding work.
  • Must be able to secure and maintain a Gaming Regulatory Authority (GRA) license and follow all Detailed Gaming Regulations (DGRs).
  • Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference applies.

  • Carpentry work orders and slot floor requests are completed safely, efficiently, and with high-quality workmanship.
  • Slot floor boxes, cabinetry, fixtures, and built-in components remain functional, safe, and visually maintained.
  • Guest-facing spaces maintain clean, professional, and finished appearance standards.
  • Operational disruptions are minimized through timely response and coordinated work execution.
  • Repairs are durable, professional, and completed with minimal rework.
  • Vendor dependency is reduced through strong internal carpentry capability.
  • Work areas, tools, and materials remain organized, safe, and operationally ready.
  • Guests and departments experience responsive, professional service support.
Physical Requirements + Work Environment
  • Casino floors, guest-facing public spaces, hotel environments, back-of-house operations, workshops, and construction/project areas.
  • Exposure to varying noise levels, dust, finishes, adhesives, chemicals, fumes, and secondhand smoke.
  • Frequent lifting, kneeling, climbing, bending, reaching, and extended physical activity.
  • Occasional after-hours or off-shift work to support slot floor access, operational needs, or project scheduling.
