About the Carpenter Position

The Carpenter will be responsible for working on construction projects, varying in size, performing hands-on work (basic carpentry, painting, drywall, etc.), and managing a small crew.

Responsibilities
  • Provides repair services as outlined by scope documentation or work orders
  • Installs wooden structures such as roofing frames, rafters, partitions, joists and stud work
  • Designs and installs cabinets, shelving, fitted furniture, drywall and insulation
  • Adds fixtures and fittings such as door handles, locks, hinges and closures
  • Selects lumber by size and strength to suit each job, sourcing wood to suit the customer’s budget and style
  • Calculates the number of fasteners required for each job
  • Liaises with clients, suppliers and other construction professionals
  • Reads blueprints and designs to work to specifications prepared by other construction professionals, architects and building code recommendations
  • Reads blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements
  • Takes measurements and calculates the size and amount of material needed
  • Cuts, shapes and smooths lumber and other material (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements
  • Builds window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items
  • Lays out flooring, roofing or drywall ensuring they are leveled and compatible
  • Carves and assembles furniture, cabinets, shelves and other items and installs them where designated
  • Inspects places and conducts repairs or maintenance
  • Builds scaffolding and other construction structures
  • Picks up materials and delivers to job sites as required
  • Sets containments, floor protection and dust control systems
  • Maintains company provided power tools and equipment
  • Communicates client concerns/questions to Project Manager
  • Completes daily notes for clients in CRM system for work performed that day
  • Takes photos of the day’s activities and uploads to CRM
  • Conducts controlled demolition services as needed
  • Provides preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles and company equipment
  • Manages, packs and moves client’s contents / personal property
  • Conducts Every Job Sales Activities: a) Securing client reviews and supporting positive online rankings; b) Asking for key market segment referrals; c) Placing yard signage
  • Any other duties assigned by manager
Qualifications
  • 5+ Years of Carpentry experience
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing
  • Satisfactory background check
  • Adheres to best practices regarding occupational safety hazards
