Fulton County is seeking a capable carpenter to perform a range of cabinetry, framing, flooring, and finishing tasks in municipal facilities. The role involves reading plans, measuring and cutting wood, installing doors and windows, and maintaining a safe, clean work site.
The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, at least two years of carpentry experience, and a valid Georgia driver’s license. The job may require on-call availability and adherence to county policies and safety
Completion of coursework equivalent to the academic requirements of a High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; two (2) years carpentry experience; or an equivalent combination of education a d experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
The examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience, accomplished by an analysis of the application. Incumbent in this class performs operational duties related to repairing and constructing cabinetry, flooring, ceilings, walls, doors, and roofs. Responsibilities include cutting lumber, installing doors and windows, assembling furniture, and trimming and applying finishing touches to projects.

Performs preparatory work, including inspecting work sites for potential problems and ensuring all required materials and equipment are available.
Performs carpentry-related activities, including cutting lumber, fitting and joining lumber for construction and repair, installing doors and windows, handling sheetrock and other types of siding, hanging ceiling wire, designing and building porches and flooring, replacing damaged flooring, assembling furniture, and trimming and applying finishing touches to projects.
Operates various power tools, including sanders and saws to perform carpentry work.
Inventories materials and equipment to ensure that the supply level is adequate.
Performs cleanup duties, including cleaning up paint spills, picking up tools and debris, cleaning work area, and performing touch up work as needed.
May be required to serve on a 24-hour on-call basis.
Performs other related duties as required.
