Job summary

Optum’s Caretenders Home Health is seeking a Speech Therapist to assess and treat speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive impairments in home health patients. The role involves developing and evaluating treatment plans, delivering interventions, and tracking patient progress.

Requirements include state-licensed Speech Therapist credentials and a valid driver's license. CPR is preferred and weekend rotation availability is a plus. Benefits include a comprehensive package and 401k options.

Qualifications

• Licensed in Speech Therapy in the state of residence.
• Current driver’s license, vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle or public transportation.
• CPR certification or ability to complete within 90 days of hire.
• Weekend rotation availability preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides services within the scope of practice as defined by state laws governing speech therapy, in accordance with the plan of care and in coordination with the health care team.
• Evaluates the patient’s level of function by applying diagnostic and prognostic tests; assists physician in therapy plan of care.
• Treats patients to communicate effectively by expressing thoughts according to the patient’s condition using standard practices.
• Observes, records, and reports to supervising nurse/physician the patient’s response and changes in condition.
• Instructs patient, family and caregiver in speech therapy areas where they can participate.
• Functions in home settings regardless of age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition.
