Job description

Overview

As a Cargo Warehouse Agent, based at our Cargo station at East Midlands airport, you will organize warehouse and storage facilities, arrange warehouse handling equipment, and load/unload air cargo. You will maintain safety and quality standards, as well as comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and company policies.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities

  1. Loading and unloading air cargo onto vehicles and storage areas
  2. Preparing and palletizing cargo as needed
  3. Ensuring paperwork related to the cargo is correct
  4. Ensuring proper handling and delivery of cargo and operation of related equipment
  5. Following Dangerous Goods requirements and regulations
  6. Delivering air cargo to appropriate recipients if required
  7. Providing special handling of live animals as required
  8. Driving and/or operating specialist equipment, which may include vans, forklift trucks, cargo dollies/trailers
  9. Reporting all equipment malfunctions to the supervisor/manager
  10. Complying with all relevant legislation, airport authority, and carrier security requirements
  11. Adhering to Swissport Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  12. Maintaining the highest standards of safety and security at all times
  13. Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Flexible to work a variety of shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays)
  • Ability to speak and understand English
  • Ability to travel to the airport when public transport is unavailable
  • Ability to follow processes and procedures and adapt flexibly when required
  • Willingness to work in inclement weather
  • Able to work in a manual environment and repeatedly lift up to 32kg throughout a shift
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • A full driving license
  • Previous experience in an aviation environment is desirable
