Job summary

BigLift Shipping B.V. is seeking a Cargo Superintendent to lead and coordinate complex heavy lift and heavy transport cargo operations on vessels worldwide.

The role requires a nautical/technical background, strong leadership and fluent English/Dutch communication, and a proactive, safety-focused mindset. You will oversee planning, loading, lashing, and stowage, while acting as the client’s on-site contact and ensuring compliance with ISM procedures and company standards in a dynamic,

What Will You Be Doing

We are looking for a proactive and skilled Cargo Superintendent to strengthen our global operations team. In this role, you will oversee the safe, precise, and efficient execution of heavy lift and heavy transport cargo operations on board vessels worldwide.

Your Main Responsibilities
  • Preparing load and discharge operations (including stowage, lifting, lashing, securing, ballast and shipping manuals).
  • Preparing, pre-planning, and coordinating cargo loading and discharge operations worldwide.
  • Prepare stability, accelerations and sea fastening calculations, as well as materials and external assistance as defined in the ISM procedures.
  • Be the single point of contact for the client on-site for/during cargo operations. Reporting on cargo operations (when attending) as defined in the company procedures.
  • Updating stowage plans according to actual stowage on board.
  • Maintaining contact and informing vessels, agents and clients with all required information for cargo operations according to the company procedures.
  • Conducting surveys of ports, vessels, quays, cargoes etc.
What Do We Ask
  • Nautical and/or technical background on senior vocational level.
  • Significant experience with marine operations in the heavy lift and heavy transport sector.
  • Proven ability to delegate and coordinate complex activities.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
  • A heavy transport expert with a good safety attitude, who is not afraid to think outside the box and to take responsibility for the execution of complex projects.
  • Understanding of environmental aspects relevant to marine operations.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written).
