Summary

The Cargo and Loss Prevention Safety Specialist is responsible for preventing losses related to cargo, cargo securement, and injuries. This role ensures proper securement training across ATS companies, focusing on specialized equipment such as flatbeds and van trailers. The position also aims to prevent cargo losses through proactive measures addressing securement errors, enroute damage, and customer and cargo specifications. Additionally, it involves partnering with Sales to onboard customers and freight, ensuring cargo safety, and managing Hazmat and OSHA compliance.

Education and Experience
  • College degree and/or safety certifications; a minimum of 4 years' experience in a large safety organization preferred.
  • Valid CDL A license.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and Department of Transportation safety regulations.
  • Proficiency with basic office machines and computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong analytical skills and confidentiality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and coordinate cargo securement training, working with drivers to establish proper handling methods.
  • Analyze metrics on cargo losses and develop systems to reduce risks.
  • Identify root causes of cargo damage claims and determine preventability.
  • Coordinate corrective actions related to cargo losses and work with customers on transportation packaging plans.
  • Collaborate with safety, equipment, and compliance teams on safety issues.
  • Analyze injury metrics, develop injury prevention techniques, and lead root cause analyses.
  • Perform Job Hazard Analyses and maintain OSHA safety audits.
  • Maintain injury and cargo protection reporting metrics.
  • Assist with various training programs, including flatbed, multi-axle, forklift, and driver training.
  • Provide driver coaching on safety programs.
  • Train Hazmat employees and support hazardous materials transportation.
  • Support ATS's culture by aligning with company values and participating in outside work hours and travel as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range is $60,000 to $80,000, based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include health, dental, vision insurance, 401k, paid holidays, PTO, and professional development opportunities.
