Job summary

Delta Air Lines is seeking an entry-level Cargo Agent in Chicago. You will be the face of Delta cargo, engaging customers in person and by phone while supporting daily operations and safety standards. The role offers mentorship to help you develop and advance your career.

Shifts vary from early morning to overnight, with 20–40 hours per week depending on seniority and station needs, and a comprehensive benefits package accompanies the role.

Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age with authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Possess basic digital literacy.
  • Ability to frequently lift tools, supplies, or items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Pass a physical ability test (PAT).
  • Must wear company-approved PPE including hearing protection, safety footwear, headwear, and high visibility apparel.

  • Be the face of Delta cargo, interacting with customers face to face and over the phone.
  • Support entry-level customer service duties and mentorship opportunities to advance their career.
  • Schedule and shift coverage based on operational needs (early morning to overnight).

Scheduling is based on operational needs. Shifts range from early morning to overnight. Each station is different based on its individual flight schedule. You will also work between 20 and 40 hours per week based on your seniority.

What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

  • Ability to frequently lift tools, supplies, or items weighing up to and including 50 pounds
  • Pass a physical ability test (PAT). You can prepare for the PAT bywatching this video
  • Must wear required company‑approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to include, but not limited to: hearing protection, safety‑toe footwear, protective headwear (bump cap or hard hat), and high visibility safety apparel subject to an approved accommodation, such as alternate PPE

  • Previous cargo freight and warehouse operations experience is preferred.
  • Typing/computer skills are strongly preferred.
