Summary

The CARES Certified Peer Specialist (CARES-CPS) works with individuals experiencing serious mental illness and serves as a role model of recovery. Responsibilities include providing group and/or individual training and counseling, service coordination, supporting community linkage, and advocacy to meet individual needs. Assists with completing Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP). The role may involve work in a clinic, peer program, or community setting.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • CARES Certification as Peer Specialist through the Georgia DBHDD/Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network required
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Card required
