Job description

We are seeking dedicated Caregivers to join our diverse teamin Elgin and be a part of our life-changing mission.Wehave flexible full-time, part-time and on-call shifts available with astarting base rate of$17.25/hr(plus additionaldifferentials of $1 for night shift and $1 for weekends for AMs andPMs). The hourly rate for IHR/On-Call positions is $19.00 (plusadditional differential of $1 for weekends). We are hiringimmediately and offer paid training!CNAs and DSPs areencouraged to apply. We provide free DSP training!

$2,000 Sign-On Bonus for Full-Time positions ($1,000 paidafter 6 months and $1,000 paid after 1 year).

Who We Are:

Marklund is a nonprofit organization that provides residential,educational and therapy services to infants, children, teens andadults with serious and profound developmental disabilities andspecial healthcare needs. With three residential locations – theMarklund Hyde Center in Geneva, the Marklund Philip Center inBloomingdale, and the Marklund Wasmond Center in Elgin, it iscurrently home to nearly 178 residents. The Marklund Day Schooloffers Multi-Needs and Life Skills programs for children and youngadults with multiple medical needs, and those diagnosed on the autismspectrum. In addition, our Community Day Services program at eachsite is a therapeutic day program for adults who reside at Marklundand those who come in from the community.

You will make a difference in the lives of our residents who haveintellectual and/or developmental disabilities in the following ways:

  • Assist with day program activities which include helping ensurethe residents have the opportunity to achieve their goals for the day
  • Groom residents by brushing their hair, teeth and shaving
  • Assist residents with bathing, incontinence and dressing
  • Feed residents and document their food and liquid intake
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for our residents
  • Assist residents with mobility needs, transferring them fromwheelchair to bed
  • Communicate with the healthcare team

Experience and Skills

Caregiver Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent

Caregiver experience helpful, but not required (weprovide paid on-site training for your Direct SupportProfessional certification)

Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job and tomeet its functional and environmental requirements
