Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience preferred with community resources or programming for older adults.
  • Experience serving caregivers or relatives raising children required.
  • Experience and coursework in gerontology and psychotherapy required.
  • Certification as a lay leader or master trainer in evidence-based programming required within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Implement programming under the direction of the Manager, including support groups, educational opportunities, outreach, and information/referral for caregivers.
  • Implement special projects as assigned by the Manager.
  • Adhere to guidelines set forth in funder’s bylaws and standards.
  • Maintain secure client files and documentation in compliance with agency and funder standards.
  • Attend outreach events to recruit clients and share information on programming.

Position Summary

The Caregiver Program Specialist provides support, education, resource navigation, and outreach services for family caregivers. This position facilitates support groups and educational programs, connects participants with community resources, develops partnerships with service providers, and promotes positive outcomes for caregivers and families through a strengths-based, person-centered approach. This role is ideal for candidates with backgrounds in social work, gerontology, counseling, family services, community outreach, or related human services fields.

General Responsibilities
  1. Implement programming under the direction of the Manager, including support groups, educational opportunities, outreach, and information/referral for caregivers.
  2. Implement special projects as assigned by the Manager.
  3. Adhere to guidelines set forth in funder’s bylaws and standards.
  4. Maintain secure client files and documentation in compliance with agency and funder standards.
  5. Attend outreach events to recruit clients and share information on programming.
  6. Participate in agency, funder, and community meetings and trainings.
  7. Implement community-based educational programs for caregivers or relatives raising children.
  8. Complete recruitment activities for caregiver services and maintain distribution lists for advertising.
  9. Maintain cooperative relationships with service providers and community organizations.
  10. Act as an agency ambassador in communities served, attending community groups or events as required.
  11. Work cooperatively to ensure effective program outcomes and outputs for caregivers.
  12. Other duties as assigned within the guidelines of this position.

Requirements
  1. Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field required.
  2. Minimum of three years’ experience preferred with community resources or programming for older adults.
  3. Experience serving caregivers or relatives raising children required.
  4. Experience and coursework in gerontology and psychotherapy required.
  5. Certification as a lay leader or master trainer in evidence-based programming required within six months of employment.
  6. Strong aptitude for public speaking and educating small groups.
  7. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  8. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  9. Strong communication skills, including interpersonal communication with older adults, family members, and interdisciplinary teams.
  10. Passage of complete background clearance and any other required testing.
  11. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Teams).
  12. Adhere to the Agency’s Code of Ethics and conduct all responsibilities in accordance with the standards outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  13. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of liability insurance.
