Summary:
The caregiver administers care within the community, assists residents with tasks, and supports caregiving personnel as needed by performing the following duties.
Specific Responsibilities:
Provide resident services and perform assigned duties, including personal care, activities of daily living, social and recreational activities, life enrichment, meal services, and other resident care tasks as needed.
Primary Essential Job Duties:
- Care for residents according to care plans or instructions from community staff.
- Communicate with the Wellness Director regarding residents' status, supplies, and any issues or concerns.
- Maintain and update caregiver notes daily.
- Support residents' dignity, privacy, independence, and individuality, fostering a home-like environment.
- Document all care and resident status on the caregiver’s log sheet.
- Assist with activities of daily living, encouraging self-care and independence.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
- Use proper body mechanics and assist residents safely with transfers and ambulation.
- Prioritize Resident Service by providing high-quality, compassionate care respecting individual needs and rights.
- Assist with social and recreational activities for residents.
- Arrive before shift to exchange information, review notes, and communicate messages with the outgoing caregiver.
- Ensure the security of the residence following established procedures.
- Participate in required training programs.
- Evacuate residents safely in case of emergencies.
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum one year of experience working with older adults as a personal care assistant.
- High school diploma or GED required; twelve (12) or more years of education preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years old, or older as per state regulations.
- Meet continuing education and certification requirements based on job classification and state law.
- Willingness and ability to perform all responsibilities effectively.
