Job summary

Texas Panhandle Centers is hiring an IDD Caregiver to support adults (18+) with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Amarillo and surrounding areas. The role focuses on trauma-informed care, direct assistance, and community participation in the Day Habilitation and ISS programs.

Salary is $15.66 per hour for a full-time position. Eligible employees receive benefits including loan forgiveness, healthcare options, retirement matching, generous PTO and holidays, and life insurance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• One semester (12 credit hours) of accredited college work, OR ABLE test showing 8th grade reading level.
• Some experience assisting in arts & crafts, music, education, recreation, or therapy.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License with insurable driving record.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Employees may use personal mobile phones for 2FA per company policy.

Responsibilities

• Maintain trauma-informed, respectful communications with clients.
• Provide supervision and care to clients with IDD.
• Perform direct care and clerical duties for Day Habilitation and ISS programs.
• Provide transportation, assist with feeding, toileting, med distribution, and accompany to events.
• Document services within 48 hours and meet productivity standards.
• Handle assigned property with accountability; work under ASCI Director supervision.
• Adhere to the Business Code of Conduct and report concerns as needed.

Texas Panhandle Centers is seeking an IDD Caregiver (1199) to deliver trauma-informed care to adult (18+) individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) across Amarillo and the surrounding service area of the Texas Panhandle. This role is ideal for human services graduates looking to gain direct clinical experience in a supportive, multi-disciplinary team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain ethical and professional communications at all times using respectful trauma-informed care language.
• Provide supervision and care to clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
• Perform direct care services and clerical duties for individuals with IDD attending the Day Habilitation and Individual Skills and Socialization (ISS) programs.
• Provide transportation, help feed, assist in toileting, distribute medication, escort to community events/interactions, and teach social and independent living skills to verbal and non-verbal individuals with IDD.
• Complete necessary documentation within 48 hours of service delivery and meet established productivity standards.
• Has no financial responsibility but is accountable for the assigned property of the individuals.
• Work under the supervision of the ASCI Director.
• Adhere to TPC Business Code of Conduct and report concerns if ethical and/or business standards defined in the code are compromised.

Qualifications & Credentials:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One semester (12 credit hours) of accredited college work, OR a minimum of 8 th grade reading comprehension level as evidenced by a qualifying score on the Adult Basic Learning Examination (ABLE).
• Some experience assisting in the arts and crafts, music, education, recreation, vocational therapy, physical therapy, or occupational therapy.
• Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License with an insurable driving record.
• At least 18 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with individuals with IDD.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong plus.
