Job summary

Touching Hearts at Home of Southwest Boston is seeking compassionate caregivers (HHA, PCA, CNA or caring individuals) to support seniors in their homes. Competitive benefits and flexible scheduling accompany a rewarding role focused on dignity and independence for clients.

Expect to provide personal care, companionship, light housekeeping, meal prep, and safe transportation while upholding safety and quality standards in a home setting.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and own insured vehicle (name on policy).
• Excellent English communication skills, verbal and written.
• Availability of the same 3+ days per week ongoing.
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to the caregiver role.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing situations.
• Ability to push, lift, and pull up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Personal Hygiene: assist with ADLs, toileting, bathing, dental hygiene.
• Alzheimer's and Dementia care: reminders, reassurance, redirection.
• Companionship: engage with seniors, chat, games, reading.
• Light Housekeeping: dusting, sweeping, tidying living spaces.
• Meal Preparation: plan and prepare meals to dietary needs.
• Transportation: drive seniors to appointments or outings.
• Medication Reminders: remind to take medications.
• Engagement: plan activities to stimulate mind and body.

Services we provide to our clients:

1. Personal Hygiene: Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) up to and including toileting/incontinence care, shower/bathing assistance, dental hygiene support, etc.
2. Alzheimer's and Dementia care: Provide reminders, reassurance and redirection for clients with memory loss and confusion.
3. Companionship: Be the friendly face and warm presence that brightens the day of our seniors. Engage in conversations, play games, read books, or simply listen attentively to their stories.
4. Light Housekeeping: Keep our seniors' living spaces clean, organized, and comfortable. Assist with light housekeeping duties such as dusting, sweeping, and tidying up. Creating a serene environment promotes well-being.
5. Meal Preparation: Prepare delicious and nutritious meals that cater to the dietary needs and preferences of our seniors.
6. Transportation: Safely chauffeur our seniors to appointments, social outings, or shopping trips.
7. Medication Reminders: Offering gentle reminders to take their medicine will promote their well-being and independence.
8. Engagement: Plan and facilitate engaging activities that stimulate the mind and body of our seniors. From puzzles and board games to gentle exercises and walks in the park, your creativity will keep their spirits high.
