Job summary

Nurse Next Door in Spokane, WA is seeking a devoted Caregiver to provide companionship and support to clients in their homes. You will follow the care plan, promote safety, and help with daily activities, meals, and light housekeeping to maintain a clean, comfortable living space.

The role emphasizes clear communication with clients, families, and the care team, while assisting with errands, scheduling, and transportation as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have your HCA certification.
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent preferred.
• Training in topics related to human development and interpersonal relationships, nutrition, shopping, food storage, use of equipment and supplies, planning and organizing of household tasks and principles of cleanliness and safety.
• Clean driving record

Responsibilities

• Provides companionship by reading, conversation, and listening.
• Participates in appropriate recreational activities and hobbies for social and sensory stimulation.
• Assist client in completing necessary phone calls, letter writing, etc.
• Maintains a safe home environment for the client.
• Accompany clients on walks, community trips, doctor's office, bank, etc.
• Inform Agency Manager/Care Designer of any changes in assignment.
• Provides emotional support and promotes a sense of well-being.
• May prepare meals.
• May perform light housework and laundering of clothing to maintain a clean, neat environment.
• Assists in the maintenance of a safe and healthy environment.
• Grocery shopping with or without a client.
• Uses equipment and supplies safely and properly.

Job Overview:

The Caregiver provides companionship to those individuals requiring socialization and/or minimum guidance to assure a protected environment and performs home management services within the client's home. The Caregiver follows the service plan and promotes quality, continuity and safety of a client.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Caregiver includes, but are not limited to the following:

• Provides companionship by reading, conversation, and listening.

Physical Demands

• The work requires light physical exertion on a regular and recurring basis such as driving and light housekeeping.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear, and taste or smell.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit.
