Caregiver for Children and Adults with Special Needs

Position Overview

Aveanna Healthcare has grown tremendously over the past year through a series of exciting acquisitions. We are currently looking for additional Agency Respite Care Providers to join our dynamic team.

Agency Respite Care Providers are responsible for providing non-medical personal care, assistance, and companionship for clients who require supervision due to developmental disabilities.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Assist with clients’ Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
  2. Provide hands-on and/or stand-by assistance with client transfers and safe ambulation, including proper use of aids.
  3. Assist with grooming and hygiene activities.
  4. Help with meal preparation and serving.
  5. Assist clients with dressing changes.
  6. Support toileting needs, including diaper/brief changes and maintaining cleanliness.
  7. Engage clients in appropriate conversations, avoiding personal disclosures and discussions about their family.
  8. Teach, train, and encourage clients to perform tasks and learn skills as directed.
  9. Entertain clients through reading, games, puzzles, etc.
  10. Follow parent instructions to manage behavioral needs, such as redirection or avoidance.
  11. Maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy policies, including HIPAA laws.

Requirements
  • Physical and mental ability to perform essential functions, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proper hygiene and appropriate dress.
  • Basic math, reading, and writing skills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification as required.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and acceptable MVR.
  • Ability to read 12-point or larger font.
  • Clear hearing and speech.
  • Ability to operate in various environments, possibly involving allergens.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with disabled populations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
