We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate caregiver, "Personal Assistant" to support a wonderful man who is experiencing the challenges of aging. He lives in his own home in Gladstone and, while he can no longer get out of bed independently, and needs more support, he has a warm sense of humor and enjoys the company of others.

This position involves helping with daily activities, including meal preparation, light housekeeping, and personal care. You'll offer emotional support and help him navigate feelings of frustration or sadness, providing comfort and structure throughout his day. Additionally, you'll assist with medication management, food tracking, and help him maintain a positive, routine-based environment.

This role requires patience and empathy, as the individual may experience moments of anger or sadness. However, your ability to provide a calm, positive, and supportive presence will make a significant difference in his daily life. If you're a compassionate and reliable individual who enjoys helping others through challenging times, we would love to have you join our team.

You'll work two shifts totaling 41 hours per week: Thursdays 7:00p to Fridays 8a and Fridays 3p to Saturdays 7p

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Be able to pass our pre-hiring screenings, including a reference check, a physical with a lifting test of 50lbs, and a criminal history background check
• Driving on the job is optional but strongly preferred: must be at least 18 years old, have a current driver's license, a reliable personal vehicle, at least two years of driving experience, auto insurance, and a clean driving record
• Experience in the developmental disability field preferred, but not required
  
  
  

Benefits

• $18.00 per hour. Annual wage increase based on satisfactory performance
• Eligible for overtime pay for hours worked over 40 hours per week
• Holiday pay (double pay for the first 12 hours of any agency holiday shift that you work)

• 3 weeks of paid time off, rising to 4 weeks after 5 years of service at UCP
• Mileage reimbursement if driving for UCP.
