Job summary

Comfort Keepers is seeking compassionate caregivers to provide at-home health and personal care to seniors across New London, East Lyme, Mystic and surrounding towns. You will support daily living activities, ensure safety, and enrich clients' lives with friendly companionship.

Flexible schedule and competitive rates are offered; PCA/HHA/CNA experience is preferred. Travel within service area may be required. Join an amazing team dedicated to quality in-home care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Driver’s License, Automobile Insurance, and reliable vehicle.
• Submit to Criminal Background Investigation and Motor Vehicle Driving Record.
• Submit to Pre-Employment Drug Screening.
• PCA, HHA, CNA license or at least one year of professional caregiving experience.
• Open availability strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide companionship through conversation and emotional reassurance.
• Provide friendly assistance to assure a safe, protected, and orderly environment.
• Support with daily activities including dressing guidance, grooming, meal preparation, medication reminders, running errands, laundry and light housekeeping.
• Provide transportation to doctor’s appointments, beauty shops, and other appointments.
• Establish and maintain effective communication and a professional relationship with clients, family members, and co-workers.
• Perform duties as assigned on the care service plan.
• Personal Care duties: assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, oral hygiene, and ambulation.

At Comfort Keepers you will spend your days providing joy, friendship and at-home health care services to seniors and other adults in need of some extra help.

As a caregiver, you will allow a senior the familiarity and comfort of staying in their own home without compromising their medical and non‑medical care. In addition to maintaining a senior’s health and well‑being, you will work to provide positive experiences that enhance the quality of his or her life.

Caregiver Responsibilities

• Provide companionship through conversation and emotional reassurance.
• Provide friendly assistance to assure a safe, protected, and orderly environment.
• Support with daily activities including dressing guidance, grooming, meal preparation, medication reminders, running errands, laundry and light housekeeping.
• Provide transportation to doctor’s appointments, beauty shops, and other appointments.

• Personal Care duties (case and skill dependent): assist the client with activities of daily living by providing any of the Comfort Keepers approved personal care activities including, but not limited to, bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, oral hygiene, and/or ambulation.

COVID‑19 Safety Protocols

• Our staff is trained in infectious disease control.
• Our caregivers will not care for those who exhibit signs of or have been tested positive for the virus as a safeguarding measure for themselves and for other clients and families.
• Our caregivers have an established protocol to stay home if they are ill with any sickness so as to avoid infecting clients or their families.
• Our staff follows hygiene procedures directed by the CDC, including vigorous and frequent handwashing with soap and water, use of sanitizing gels (with 70% alcohol level or higher), use of disinfectant wipes to frequently wipe down surfaces, proper coughing and sneezing techniques, disposal of any items that may have virus or bacteria, and more.
• If any of our staff or clients show signs of COVID‑19, we will report, isolate and quarantine, as necessary, abiding by national and local guidelines.
