Job summary

Ohana Pacific Health is seeking a Substitute Caregiver (Companion) at Hale Makua Wailuku Facility to sustain kupuna through hospitable personal care, homemaking, and befriending.

Responsibilities include direct resident support, timely reporting of health changes to the nurse, and applying CNA training to ensure safe, compassionate care for Maui's elders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Complete state-approved Nurse Aide Training Program.
• CPR and First Aid certification required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CNA certification preferred in Hawaii.
• TB clearance and health review completed.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct services to residents, assist daily living, and support nurse in holistic care.
• Recognize, record, and report health or well-being changes to the nurse promptly.
• Demonstrate knowledge to provide geriatric and adult care per safety criteria.

Hale Makua Health Services is a Maui based non-profit that improves the well-being of those in its care through compassionate personalized health services. We are devoted to helping Maui's Elders live their best lives. Hale Makua's Wailuku location is a 90-bed nursing facility.

The Position:

We're looking for a caring and compassionate Substitute Caregiver (Companion) to sustain our Kupuna through hospitable, welcoming personal care, homemaking, and befriending. Responsibilities include:

• Providing direct services to the residents of the ARCH, supporting their daily living needs, and supplementing the care of the nurse in a holistic approach to care.
• Recognize, record, and report to the nurse in a timely manner any significant change in the resident's health status, and/or mental or physical well-being.
• Demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to adult and geriatric patient populations.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent / Minimum age of 18
• Must complete a state approved Nurse Aide Training Program
• CPR and First Aide Certification
• Valid driver's license
• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification with the State of Hawaii, preferred
• 2 Step TB clearance and health review (can be done in-house)
