Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with care team to ensure residents access needed treatment, support, case management, and appointments, including transportation to external providers
  • Ensure all interactions reflect trauma-informed care principles: safety, choice, trustworthiness, collaboration, and empowerment
  • Supervise medication windows to ensure the seven rights of medication administration
  • Participate in Shift Change meetings and complete associated documentation
  • Document resident interactions and medications dispensed in the electronic medical record
  • Practice good financial stewardship of agency resources, including time and supplies
  • Meet program, division, and agency KPIs and metrics
  • Assist with on-site cleaning and skills training with residents for ADLs/IADLs
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention and resolution as needed
  • Maintain resident and staff confidentiality
  • Maintain licensing compliance with Washington DSHS/DOH requirements
  • Coordinate scheduling and transportation for appointments and other care needs
  • Maintain resident charts and activity logs following guidelines
  • Contribute to care planning and collaborate with primary care providers and case managers
  • Facilitate group and individual activities and special events
  • Assist in admission and discharge planning
  • Participate in fire drills, orientation, and daily resident care routines
  • Stay alert on all shifts and perform other duties as assigned

The Residential Caregiver works as part of a team to provide behavioral health services, skills training, and community support in a residential setting. This position is responsible for support to all residents as part of the care team, including groups, outings, appointments, assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLS), and medication support.

  • Friday 6:00am-4:00pm
  • Saturday 8:00am-6:00pm
  • Sunday 8:00am-6:00pm
  • Monday 6:00am-4:00pm
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with care team to ensure all residents access needed treatment, support, case management, and appointments needed, including transportation to external providers
  • Ensure all interactions represent the five principles of trauma-informed care, including safety, choice, trustworthiness, collaboration, and empowerment
  • Supervise medication windows to ensure the seven rights of medication use are followed: right person, right medication, right time, right dose, right route, right reason (including refusal), and right documentation according to agency provided medication training
  • Actively participate in Shift Change meetings and complete associated documentation
  • Complete daily documentation in electronic medical record on resident interactions, medications dispensed when assigned, and other required documentation, ensuring an interaction and subsequent documentation are completed for all residents across the team
  • Practice good financial stewardship of agency and contract resources, including how time is being spent, supplies are used, property is being maintained, etc.
  • Meet identified key performance indicators and metrics for the position as identified for the program, division, and agency
  • Assist with and support on-site cleaning, including skills training with residents to maintain personal and community spaces, laundry, and preparation for regular pest treatments
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention and resolution as needed
  • Always maintain resident and staff confidentiality

The Residential Caregiver works with on-site care team to provide high standards of care within the licensed residential setting, including but not limited to:

  • Completing assigned work related to maintaining and adhering to licensing responsibilities, such as Washington Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) and Department of Health (DOH), as assigned by supervisor
  • Providing skills training and assistance to residents in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) per their service plan and individual needs, such as assistance in hygiene needs, feeding, personal hygiene, cleaning, finances, transportation, etc. Includes preparing resident meals when cook is not on duty and per menu
  • Learning and executing skills and techniques promoted in the State of Washington mandated training, Fundamentals of Caregiving
  • Coordinating care, such as scheduling, attending, and/or arranging transportation for appointments and other case management needs
  • Maintaining, and documenting in, resident charts, activity logs, meal charts, etc. following agency, county, state, and federal guidelines
  • Providing input as part of resident’s care team on service plan and progress, and collaborating with other providers such as primary care provider, case manager, etc.
  • Facilitating regular group and individual activities, encounters, and specialized resident events, such as outings and holiday gatherings
  • Assisting in admission and discharge planning per supervisor direction
  • Participating in fire drills, resident orientation, chores, and resident room maintenance during resident move-in and move-out
  • Monitoring and managing facility milieu for visitors, television time, and quiet times
  • Attending all scheduled meetings and supervisions
  • Staying awake on all shifts
  • Performing other duties as assigned
