ABOUT THE JOB

The Automotive CTE Instructor is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and hands-on learning environment where students develop both the technical skills and professional habits needed for success in the automotive industry. This position combines strong classroom instruction with relevant industry knowledge and experience.

The instructor will design and facilitate lessons, projects, demonstrations, and assessments that help students build automotive knowledge and skills through authentic, applied learning experiences. This includes establishing clear learning goals, differentiating instruction to meet a range of student needs, monitoring student progress, providing meaningful feedback, and creating opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning through both classroom and shop-based tasks.

As a Career and Technical Education instructor, the teacher will also connect classroom learning to current automotive industry practices, tools, technologies, career pathways, and workplace expectations. A strong command of automotive shop safety is essential. The instructor is responsible for explicitly teaching, modeling, monitoring, and consistently reinforcing safe practices related to tools, equipment, vehicles, personal protective equipment, and the overall shop environment.

Ultimately, the Automotive CTE Instructor serves as both an educator and industry mentor, helping students develop the technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, safety habits, professionalism, and confidence necessary to pursue further education, certification, or employment in the automotive field.

RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY: Responsible for the delivery of specified course content. Responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth. This person is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that results in students achieving academic success.

  • Augment course content in the form of remediation, modification, and enrichment.
  • Partner with special education staff to implement student's IEPs, ALPs and 504s.
  • Set deadlines for student work and grant extensions.
  • Attend face-to-face meetings with students and parent/guardian, as scheduled.
  • Grade student work, enter grades into an online gradebook, and provide course grade.
  • Communicate with parents as needed.
  • Collaborate with other instructional staff.
  • Administer school-wide assessments including CSAP, ACT, and Acuity.
  • Conduct student/parent/teacher conferences.
  • Attend (virtual and physical) and actively participate in all required staff meetings and professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
