Job summary

The Career Services Program Manager for Continuing Education at University of California, Irvine will provide customized services addressing the career needs of DCE learners and alumni. DCE constituents may be seeking first jobs, advancement, or a career transition, located in Orange County or globally with online access available.

The incumbent will develop and implement strategies to engage employers, create online resources, and collaborate with DCE staff to design effective career programs

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in counseling, counseling psychology, higher education student affairs, or a related behavioral science field, and/or equivalent experience/training.
• 3+ years of direct career coaching, academic advising, or student services in a college or university setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide customized career services for DCE learners and alumni, including advising, online resources, and employer outreach.
• Develop and implement programs, outreach strategies, and employer engagement activities.

Your Role on the Team

The Career Services Program Manager for Continuing Education will provide customized services to address career services needs of UCI Division of Continuing Education learners and alumni. DCE constituents may be looking for first jobs, to advance within their career field, or to make a career transition. DCE learners and alumni are located both in Orange County and across the globe; some will be able to take advantage of services offered on the UCI campus, while others will need to access online services. The Program Manager will provide direct and customized services for learners and alumni via programs, outreach, advising, the curation and creation of online resources, and outreach to relevant employers with openings for experienced professionals. The incumbent will also develop and implement strategies to engage employers of interest to DCE learners and alumni, and will place a great deal of emphasis on providing opportunities for employers to engage with DCE talent, such as in-person networking , events niche career fairs, and speaker panels. and provide services directly to Continuing Education students and alumni. The Career Services Program Manager will work closely with DCE staff to inform program design and delivery and drive participation in career programs. The incumbent will be immersed in career services best practices in higher education, including activities on the UC Irvine campus, designing and providing an "extension" of those activities to early/mid-career professionals engaged at DCE.

What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

• Strong knowledge of career development theories, adult development theory, counseling process, career coaching techniques, career decision making, learning styles, and job search techniques.
• Thorough knowledge of needs assessment theory, processes, and practice; workshop and program design.
• Knowledge of UC programs, career services, employer, alumni, and faculty needs and expectations, recruiting and staffing methods, and employment trends.
• Ability to design and modify computer applications to meet program needs, problem identification, presentation skills, verbal communication, written communication, and organization skills.
• Ability to work with people from diverse cultures.
• Bachelor's degree in counseling, counseling psychology, higher education student affairs, or a related behavioral science field and / or equivalent experience / training
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in direct career coaching, academic advising, or student services experience within a college or university setting.

Preferred:

• Advanced degree in counseling, counseling psychology, higher education student affairs, or a related behavioral science field.

Expected Salary Minimum Range: $66,990

Expected Salary Maximium Range: $92,085
